FOSN CODE OF CONDUCT

a. Integrity and Academic Standards

All participants in FOSN — including authors, editors, reviewers, and project leads — are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity. Every contribution must be based on accurate data, transparent methods, and honest interpretation of results. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.

b. Originality and Plagiarism

Submissions and publications must be original works. Any use of the ideas, data, or text of others must be properly acknowledged through citation. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and undeclared use of AI-generated content without human oversight are unacceptable.

c. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any personal, institutional, or financial direct or indirect conflicts of interest that could influence the evaluation or publication of a work. Giving a positive review to an author after receiving positive review from this author, or a negative review after receiving negative review, are also examples of conflict of interest. Undisclosed conflicts may lead to retraction or loss of publication privileges.

d. Respectful Communication

The Future of Science Network is committed to maintaining respectful environment. Harassment, intimidation, or personal attacks — including during reviews, editorial exchanges, or public discussions — are strictly forbidden.

e. Authorship and Acknowledgment

All individuals listed as authors must have made a significant contribution to the research or writing. Supervisors, funders, or institutions should be acknowledged appropriately. Ghostwriting or honorary authorship is not allowed.

Anonymity and pseudonymity have always been a part of intellectuel debates, and may serve various important roles in discussing controversial ideas or critiquing orthodoxy. Hence they are allowed on the platform. However, in the interest of preventing harassment and undisclosed conflicts of interests, anonymous and pseudonymous user must use their professional e-mail adresses associated their real names to log in to the website, and their real identity will be visible to the admins of FOSN.

f. Confidentiality

Information obtained during the review process must remain confidential. Reviewers and editors may not use unpublished data or ideas for their own research.

g. Enforcement

Violations of this code may result in suspension of publication rights, removal of content, or other appropriate actions. Appeals may be submitted to the FOSN Advisory Board for review via board@future-of-science.net
