Legal information for the Future of Science Network
The Future of Science Network (FOSN) is a non-commercial digital platform dedicated to innovations in academic publishing. The platform serves as a hub for various initiatives such as Open Review Journals or Archives. FOSN also organizes the Biannual Conference on Innovation in Academic Publishing in Aix-en-Provence.
1. Publisher
The FOSN website is published by a non-profit academic consortium. It is part of the research program developed by the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) at UM6P (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University), in partnership with:
Aix-Marseille University (France)
University of Chicago (USA)
Columbia University – Center for Comparative Critical Thought (USA)
2. Hosting
The website is currently in alpha. It is temporarily hosted on secure servers operated by UM6P (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University), Morocco at the school 1337. Address: Lot 660 – Hay Moulay Rachid, Ben Guerir 43150, Morocco. Our current plans is to have the final website hosted at UM6P and on a server operated at Aix-Marseille Université (58 boulevard Charles-Livon 13284 Marseille, France).
3. Data Collection and Privacy
Data Collected:
FOSN collects only the minimal personal information required to operate the platform:
User’s name or pseudonym
Email address
Institution
No other personal, behavioral, or usage data is collected or stored.
Purpose:
These data are used solely to:
Create and manage user accounts
Authenticate users when contributing (e.g., uploading texts or comments)
Occasionally communicate important updates related to the platform or onboarding information.
Data Retention:
All data is securely stored on UM6P servers and will never be sold, shared with third parties, or used for commercial purposes.
Your Rights:
In accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent international standards, users have the right to:
Access their data
Request rectification or deletion
Object to the processing of their personal data

4. Cookies
FOSN does not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies. Only essential cookies may be used for technical operations (such as session management or language preferences).
5. Intellectual Property
Unless stated otherwise, the content available on FOSN (including digitized classical texts, annotations, and visualizations) is provided under open licenses (Creative Commons), according to the rights applicable to each text.
User contributions are also considered open access, unless a specific license is indicated by the contributor.
6. Liability
FOSN strives to provide accurate and up-to-date information. However, the consortium cannot be held liable for any errors, omissions, or the use made of the content by users.
